The sample project

A new account has no drawings in it, which makes the first ten minutes a blank screen. Every program offers a sample instead: a real drawing set that has been through the same pipeline your own files go through, with the findings, quantities and prices it actually produced.

It is yours, and it is separate

Opening the sample gives you a private copy of it. Nothing you do in there touches your own projects, and nothing anyone else does in theirs touches yours. The programs show a band across the top while you are in it, so it is never a question which one you are looking at.

Your own project list stays empty until you save something into it. A new account that opens the sample still reports zero projects, zero audits and zero estimates, because the sample is not your work.

What it will not do

• Uploads are refused inside the sample. A drawing you bring is your work, and it belongs in your own workspace rather than in a copy of a demonstration.
• The cross-program handoffs are switched off. A sample takeoff does not arrive in your estimator, and a sample estimate does not appear in anybody's dashboard.
• Numbers in it are the ones the software produced from that set, not a best case chosen for the brochure. They are as right, and as wrong, as the product is.

Starting over

The copy is yours to mark up, measure and break. If it gets into a state you would rather leave behind, closing and reopening the sample gives you a fresh copy of the original.
